What makes your family unique?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 17, 2008:
my family? different? nah, not them. they just like everybody else...
well, except they are a lot more vocal with their criticisms of me.

okay, that's not a good answer, but i'm leaving it there. what characterizes my family? there is an inordinate amount of con-artists, liars, theives, and clergymen in my family (not saying those occupations are connected in any way at all, just stating the fact of the matter). shame. that is what characterizes my family. shame. and it is because of this, because we were taught to be ashamed, to hide who we are from the rest of the world, that is where the lies come from, i guess. this fear of being found out, that somebody might realize we are different... hahaha and here you go with a question, talking like being different is a good thing. *expletive*

no, we don't just leave comments here at gaia, we leave wise and insightful comments.
oh, no, we aren't freaks, we are unique, special. yeah right. being different sets one apart from the rest of the herd. the herd sees that as fate worse than hell, to not belong, to not blend in with the crowd. you know that. you can say all the pretty platitudes you want, but you know you are terrified of truly being seen as “different” that might get you kicked out of the club. and the club tells you how you are so much more special than others, you know, them freaks that don't belong…
conformity and consumerism is worshipped here same as in society in general. all the while making high and mighty remarks to the contrary. fucking pack of liars, every last one of you.

Reminds me of my own family…that shame…that 'hiding' and 'concealing' and 'changing' who you really are to fit into the “White Man's world.”
Yeahhhh….riiiiiiight….like people can't tell they're not white….it's as plain as the brown on their faces I don't care how 'educated' they try to speak. :-D LMAO :-D
Where's the celebration of Diversity and infinite variety? Who says we all have to walk, talk and look like one particular group? Ewwww…. :-P
people choose not to understand what we know, what we have experienced, Ariela. i don't think they're really that stupid. just blind to the abuse. nobody wants to think about that stuff, it's not “good thoughts” so we'll pretend it's not even there. hahahaha who wants to be told that their religion has been responsible for so much illness in the world? who wants to think that the society, religions, and government they were led to believe are good is actually hurting people in so many ways, and has always done so? they certainly don't want to think about how being in the majority does not automatically make them right. ;-)

It has taken a long time of having others' points of views valued and come to life with appreciation, respect and realizing just how cruel the world used to be.
It has indeed changed for the betterment around this globe. More and more is being done for others due to the hero's of the past and present that have died and live for the cause.
Granted, not ALL is in agreement but in order for our prayers towards goodness be granted, there must also be forgiveness.
