What is your wish for this month?

Posted on Dec 1st, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 01, 2008:

ooooh, do i get a wish?  just one?!  very cool!
Gimme Shelter (Live) - The Rolling Stones

i want the wars to stop.  i want there to be world peace.  not a pretend peace, not the illusion of peace created by a one-world government that is at war with all of humanity.  nor the illusion of peace consisting of a one-world religion that is also at war with all of humanity.  but the kind of peace that can only happen when each and every individual on earth is free to be who they want to be, to do what they want to do, to make their own decisions for themselves.  the kind of peace that will happen when each individual human being has the courage to look within and find what is true, rather than looking to any leaders to guide them, any rulers to make laws which prevent us from finding our own truth, our own ability to know the difference between right and wrong.  we all have it within us, human instinct.  i am definitely not talking about social darwinism, which would have us believe that it is our nature to compete against each other.  human instinct, the humanity inside us that has been taken away from us by those abusive authorities such as church and state, with all their rules and laws, telling us who we should be and how we should act, telling us what is good, telling us that we are inherently bad and unable or unqualified to make decisions for ourselves.  so that's my wish.  can i have it now?

What was the most difficult promise you ever tried to keep?

Posted on Dec 2nd, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 02, 2008:

"until death do us part"

...i finally decided it was probably better to break my word than to have to kill him.

ps - no, the next time around, that was not part of the vows.

pps - i changed the title to more accurately express the question i felt was being asked.  it is not very difficult at all to make promises, it's the breaking them that hurts.

What do you believe about karma?

Posted on Dec 3rd, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 03, 2008:

i do not believe in good versus evil.
i do not believe that good exists, other than as a
subjective judgment i make about certain things.
when i perceive something as hurtful to me or anyone else,
i may call it bad.  but that doesn't mean that bad (or good)
is an objective quality in any of those things.

"Do you believe in karma? Does goodness beget more goodness? Or do terrible things sometimes befall innocent people?"

i do believe that every decision we make
has the
potential to change our lives, our world,
and everything in it.
i do believe that it is our choice,
not fate, not destiny,
that determines what happens next.

it has been my personal experience
that when others decide for me
is when i have perceived myself as being hurt.
or rather, i perceive myself to be suffering.

yes, i make mistakes.  we all do.
but to not decide when the choice is mine to make
is the worst of all mistakes i have ever made.

Who reminds you of yourself?

Posted on Dec 11th, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 10, 2008:

my youngest child.  she is so much like me, that she becomes offended when i assume that i understand what she's feeling or thinking, when i tell her how much she is like me.   i agree with her, there is not much more offensive than someone thinking you are like them, that you think what they think, or feel what they feel, or that you have experienced similar things in life.  this kind of false "understanding" often leads to a condescending attitude, not only do they think they know where i am right now, but where i should go next.  but they are wrong.  you are all wrong.  nobody is like me.  nobody  is like you, either.  we are all of us unique and different.  and that's not a bad thing, as the groupthink mentality of our society would have us want to be same.  unity does not mean everyone should be the same.  a world without divisions, without the groups that separate us from others, would mean that it would be okay to be different.  that is real connectedness.  not wanting to change anyone, not wanting someone to be like you, but to accept that they are different.

an anarchist contemplates the notion of "heaven"

Posted on Dec 14th, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 14, 2008:

to be free.

a place where there are no walls,
no boundaries,
no fences.
and certainly no pearly gates
that serve to keep "sinners" out.

a place without the concept of sin,
thus without any blame or shame.

a place where there are no stereotypes,
nor groups fighting against each other.
a place where war does not exist.

a place without hatred of those who are different.
a place where each spirit is celebrated
not for sameness, but for their differences.

a place we are all truly equal, and connected
through our caring for each other,
not the illusion of connection
created by homogenizing humanity
or unifying everyone into the same mould,
assimilating everyone into the hive,
and killing off those who won't conform.
a place without genocide.

a place where i can be me.
a place where you aren't afraid
to be who you really are.

What is prayer?

Posted on Dec 15th, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 15, 2008:

prayer is how i express my personal relationship with the divine.  as such, it is a very private matter and not something i share with other people.  all i ask is the same consideration in return.  seems too many are unaware that there exists a spiritual personal space, just as there exist boundaries in our physical interactions with others.  it is never nice to be made to feel as though someone has no respect for what, to me, is the most personal, most private part of who i am.

What is your wish for tomorrow?

Posted on Dec 24th, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 24, 2008:

i don't make wishes.
wishing implies doubt.
"it's just a dream"
well, not my dreams.
my dreams are true.
it's just some of them haven't happened yet.

i will not invalidate those dreams by hoping they might all come true tomorrow.  they will happen when they happen, and not a minute too soon.  so for tomorrow, if i were to wish, i would wish that i survive it, to live to see the day those dreams are real.

What was the last thing you shared?

Posted on Dec 28th, 2008 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 27, 2008:

i shared some thoughts with my husband.

i thought what if they took all that money, resources and human labor that is being spent building that wall between us and mexico, what if they took all that and used it to feed people instead?  seems it would accomplish the same end, except without hurting anyone.

then i thought, what if they took all that money, resources and human labor that is being spent on war and used it to help people instead of killing them...
