you know i've got to call bullshit on most of what has been posted in reply to this question.  we are not born free.  if every mother lives in a cage, their children are born into captivity.  we are offered substitutes, like safety and security, and rights and liberties instead, to keep us from demanding the freedom that we all really want.  if everyone were free to think for themselves and make their own decisions, we would have anarchy.  and we are taught to fear that more than anything else.  this fear is what prevents us from being free, what makes us choose instead to remain subject to authority and the unending war and groupthink (the herd mentality) that its existence depends upon.

but i do believe we shall be released.  i do believe the war will end and governments and religions will cease to exist.  i really do.  and i believe it will happen in this lifetime.  my children deserve to grow up in a world that is free.  we're getting there.  without vision, the future is uncertain.  but i have vision.  i have seen peace.  i have seen freedom.  we just aren't quite there yet.

Guess people have to be squeezed to the limit within that box before they gotta bust out, break those walls down so they can breathe, stretch and walk freely.
Maybe GROW and EXPAND so much that they bust out anyway.
Dunno what the breaking point is, but it's coming.
