What can you do to make a difference?

    right now         positive

every conscious decision makes a difference, when the alternative is to continue to live a life scripted out for us by authority.

What was the last thing you asked for?

Posted on May 3rd, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 03, 2009:

a motorcycle.  specifically, a 1969 honda cb350 that was in the wednesday paper.  it's really not so ironic that my first motorcycle is as old as i am, covered in dust and grime, and don't even run.  my first car was very much the same.  i got that car running, too.  it'll be fun.
1969 honda cb350

our kids think it's like chitty chitty bang bang - daddy brought home a bucket of rust and is gonna make it all shiny and cool (though he flat-out refused to paint it purple).  :-)

When did you do the most growing up?

Posted on May 4th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 04, 2009:

i was born old, been growing younger ever since....

seriously.  it sounds rather cliche, doesn't it?  but is true.  i was a very old child.  very serious.  always had to be the responsible one.  didn't know how to play and have fun.  i'm still learning.

Bob Dylan - My Back Pages

My Back Pages

Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
"Equality," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

no amount of force will do the trick

Posted on May 4th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie

you won't remove
the sword
from that stone.
you can't.
strength is required,
far more than you
will ever know.
no man alive
has half the strength
as that of
an innocent child.
but you know this not.

you won't remove
the sword
from that stone.
you can't
because
you don't know
how to be strong
without physical might,
how to be brave
instead of cowardly,
because you are afraid.
you are not king.
you won't ever be king.
for in your fear,
you would only
use the sword
to make war
instead of peace.

it's not yours.
who is able to hold
the power to rule the world?
- only those
who would never wield it.
you can't have it.

song for bob dylan

Posted on May 6th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
David Bowie Song For Bob Dylan

Oh, hear this Robert Zimmerman
I wrote a song for you
About a strange young man called Dylan
With a voice like sand and glue
Some words of truthful vengeance
They could pin us to the floor
Brought a few more people on
And put the fear in a whole lot more

Ah, Here she comes
Here she comes
Here she comes again
The same old painted lady
From the brow of a superbrain
She'll scratch this world to pieces
As she comes on like a friend
But a couple of songs
From your old scrapbook
Could send her home again

You gave your heart to every bedsit room
At least a picture on the wall
And you sat behind a million pair of eyes
And told them how they saw
Then we lost your train of thought
The paintings are all your own
While troubles are rising
We'd rather be scared
Together than alone

Ah, Here she comes
Here she comes
Here she comes again
The same old painted lady
From the brow of a superbrain
She'll scratch this world to pieces
As she comes on like a friend
But a couple of songs
From your old scrapbook
Could send her home again

Now hear this Robert Zimmerman
Though I don't suppose we'll meet
Ask your good friend Dylan
If he'd gaze a while down the old street
Tell him we've lost his poems
So they're writing on the walls
Give us back our unity
Give us back our family
You're every nation's refugee
Don't leave us with their sanity

Ah, Here she comes
Here she comes
Here she comes again
The same old painted lady
From the brow of a superbrain
She'll scratch this world to pieces
As she comes on like a friend
But a couple of songs
From your old scrapbook
Could send her home again
Come on
A couple of songs
From your old scrapbook
Could send her home again
Oh, here she comes, (oh) here she comes
Oh, here she comes (oh)

Where do you go for help?

Posted on May 7th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 07, 2009:

summertime

my special place....

once upon a time
(before the sky was falling)
Spirit said to me:
go to where the magic water is
and sing to the frogs
someone will be there to help you.

the children and i went
to where the magic water is
and it was full of tadpoles
but nobody else was there
to help us sing to the frogs
so we sang our own songs
what we thought the frogs would like.

the children croaked froggie sounds
and i sang amazing grace
as tadpoles swam around our ankles
and kissed our toes.

i didn't know then
the significance of that song
to the Cherokees.
but we heard the laughter
of the little people
and i knew Spirit was pleased.

Creator's Prayer

today is mud.
mud here where i live
is orangey-brown
they call it "red clay"

                >>>

i went looking for pics
and found lots of gray mud...

mud

did you know that
you can purchase
a bucket of mud
from the dead sea?
fifty bucks.
i didn't know that.
wonder how much it costs
if you go to the fancy spas
that buy those buckets of mud?
hahahahaha

mudcake
i know what i'll do...
i'll go take a pic
of the mud cake

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 10, 2009:

no.  i am not defined nor am i validated by what other people think of me.  it's really that simple.  the group's acceptance does not make or break me.  the "social-self' of which pshychologists speak is utter nonsense.  who i am is not dependent upon anyone but me.  i've never been one to try too hard to keep up appearances, that always seemed like too much work, pretending to be someone you aren't.

Who do you want to be when you grow up?

Posted on May 13th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 13, 2009:

the other part of this quesion, what do you want to become?

hmmm
which me are you asking?
and do you want to know who or what?
those are all very different questions, and would elicit very different answers.

if you had asked six-years old stacy, way back around the time usa was gearing up to celebrate the bicentennial, what did she want to be when she grew up, she would have told you she wanted to be president.

and the grownups laughed and said:
"you can't do that"

that's typical.  nobody really wanted to know my answer to that question.  as i got older, i learned not to tell anyone what i really wanted.  not only did they not really want to know, their doubts hurt me.  tell me i can't do it.  can't.  the same grownups always spouting out "you can do anything you want to do, you can be anyone you want to be" all the time at me, somehow completely oblivious to the fact that when they asked me what i wanted, they told me it wasn't possible, can't do it, always lots of reasons, but always "you can't do that."

so i'm refusing to answer this question on the grounds that you won't believe me.  have no doubts that i do have an answer, a real good one.  but i'm not telling, because you'll just say, "you cant do that!"  and i'm tired of hearing that shit.  :-)

What are you sensitive about?

Posted on May 15th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 14, 2009:

everything.  i get accused of being "too sensitive" all the time.  i don't think so.  i think the world in which we live is toxic, and everybody else has allowed themselves to become desensitized to it all.  that's what i think.

Bob Dylan - It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

have you ever seen an autistic child experience sensory overload?  well, that's me.  that's how i feel on the inside, but am not allowed to express outwardly as an adult.  eliminating all gluten from my diet helped tremendously, but i still get overload sometimes, like when i read the newspaper, or if i'm in the middle of a huge crowd of people, if i'm too near someone wearing perfume, if i'm in a building that uses harsh cleaning chemicals on the floors, if i hear a baby crying and the parents don't react as fast as i think they should, when my mother is around, when there's a hair inside my sock or an itchy tag on my clothes, but most especially when people don't care.  that sets me off worse than anything (excepting gluten).  when i recognize the desensitization, the disconnect, that most of humanity shares, when i try to believe that people care and am proven wrong, again and again.

it wasn't easy, being a little white-girl
growing up with such a nose as this.
i also inherited crazy horse's vision,
and his attitude problem.
i inherited my father's intelligence
but not his beauty.
from my mother, i inherited...
shame.
we aren't allowed to talk about it.

Do you find it hard to assert yourself?

Posted on May 17th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 17, 2009:

needs come before wants.
mine, or anyone else's.

some people might think
assertiveness is about placing
your wants above someone else's needs.
that is how our society functions.
that is what is so wrong with it.

what if all babies had what they need,
warmth, comfort, and human milk.
that's all they need!!
is that too much to give them?
apparently for some, it is.
for some, it's perfectly okay
for baby to lay in a crib, alone,
crying out for comfort, for human touch.
for some, it's perfeclty okay
to deny baby food if baby's hunger
doesn't fit into mommy's schedule.
for some, it's perfectly okay
to treat children as less than human
to ignore what they have to say,
especially before they learn to talk.
and by the time they can talk,
they have already been taught
that what they need doesn't matter.

and since it's socially-acceptable, this sort of abuse,
people look the other way, and remain silent.
or maybe it's because that was them, once upon a time,
that baby whose basic needs weren't met.
and those memories are so painful, they get blocked out.
if you can't justify the abuse, just pretend it's not there.
that makes it easier to do the same thing to your own babies.

them's the rules.  obey.  don't question it.
because when you start to question them rules
you start to realize how fucked up they are
and you can no longer mindlessly obey.

Where, or what, would you like to finally surrender?

Posted on May 18th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 18, 2009:

would'a had a way different answer to this question last year.  good thing we humans can learn from our mistakes, ain't it?  :-)  doesn't mean we do, but we can...

if surrender means to give in to control, i won't do it.  period.  i don't care where that control is coming from.  it's not in me to be a puppet robot slave toy, here to amuse and entertain my master.  i'm not here to do anyone else's bidding.  i was given free will, and i intend to use it.  and you?

i had to look in the dictionary.  thought maybe surrender could possibly mean to give up the desire to control and maybe is synonymous with "letting go."  that's not in there anywhere.  surrender means to allow someone or something else to dominate.  i suppose that is a decision, but is not one i am likely to choose (not ever again).  we could say it goes against my religion.  heh

report from iron mountain

Posted on May 19th, 2009 by boogie : anarchist boogie
Report from Iron Mountain: on the Possibility and Desirability of Peace (1967)

quote: "War fills certain functions essential to the stability of our society; until other ways of filling them are developed, the war system must be maintained -- and improved in effectiveness."

they failed to consider freedom as a viable option. of course they would, seeing that government's goal is to control, not to set anyone free. this grave miscalculation rendered a very seriously flawed model of what peace would look like.
